FinScopeTM, a
FinMark Trust
initiative, is the most comprehensive national household survey
focussed on the financial services needs and usage across the
entire South and Southern African population. The programme is
underwritten and co-ordinated by
FinMark Trust
and participating sponsors. Through their sponsorship, sponsors
secure access to the research findings and the FSM segmentation
model.
The 2006 South
African syndicate members were Absa, Financial Services
Board, First National
Bank, Liberty Life, Metropolitan, National Treasury, Nedbank,
Old Mutual, Sanlam Life, Standard Bank and Teba Bank.
The 2005 South
African syndicate members were Absa, Edcon, First National
Bank, MM SA (Pty) Ltd, National Treasury, Nedbank, Rural Housing
Loan Fund, SAIA, Standard Bank, The Life Offices' Association of
South Africa and Visa International (CEMEA Region).
The 2004 South
African syndicate members were Absa, African Bank, First
National Bank, Nedbank, Standard Bank, Teba Bank and The Life
Offices' Association of South Africa.
The 2004 Botswana syndicate members were Botswana
Building Society, Botswana Life, Botswana Savings Bank, First
National Bank and Standard Chartered Bank of Botswana Ltd.
Bank Windhoek was the only syndicate member for 2004 Namibia.
FinScopeTM is the most comprehensive national
household survey of financial services, needs and usage amongst
consumers. The aim is to establish credible benchmarks and
highlight opportunities for innovation in product and delivery.
FinScopeTM tracks the changing landscape of access to
financial services across all the main product categories -
transaction banking, savings, credit and insurance.
The study extends over a spectrum of areas of financial
interest; from examining quality of life and poverty, to
attitudes to and the use of technology, as well as levels of
financial literacy.
